As a veteran navigating the complexities of a life-altering injury, I created this inspirational photography book to serve as a beacon for others in the ‘medical wilderness.’ Hope is more than a collection of images; it is a visual memoir dedicated to the quiet strength found in resilience.

“It was January of 2024, and I sat down and planned my own funeral. I didn’t know what was wrong with me — and neither did any of the doctors. Hell, I hadn’t even found one that listened to me, let alone believed me. For six years, I had been falling apart in slow motion. My legs didn’t work right, my feet were twisted and clenched, my body was failing in ways no one could explain. The only thing I knew for sure was that it was getting worse. Much worse.”
Hope is the story of how I found my way back. This inspirational photography book is a curated journey through that silence, proving that while our bodies may have limitations, our vision does not. It is an invitation to see the world through a lens of resilience, even when the path forward isn’t clear.
Healing Through a World of Color
While my injury initially made life feel gray and binary, my recovery was defined by a return to color. In this inspirational photography book, I use vibrant, full-color imagery to represent the life that still exists beyond the walls of a hospital room or a quiet home.
From the golden hues of a sunrise to the deep blues of the Atlantic, color is a language of emotion. For those of us living with chronic illness or a Tarlov Cyst, these colors act as a lifeline. They remind us that the world is still vivid, still beautiful, and still waiting for us. By “falling into the print,” you are engaging in a visual meditation that can help lower stress and provide a much-needed mental escape from physical pain.

A Memoir of Resilience for the Veteran Community
This book is more than a portfolio; it is an identity-driven memoir. As a Veteran, I wanted to create something that spoke to the “invisible warrior” in all of us. Whether you served in the Air Force or are fighting a battle with your own health, the themes in Hope are universal.
We often talk about “military grit,” but true resilience is found in the quiet moments of choosing to stay positive when your body feels broken. Dooley Cards is a Veteran-Owned Small Business dedicated to that mission. When you read this inspirational photography book, you are supporting a mission of kindness that started in the National Guard and continues today in my art studio.

There are moments in life when hope doesn’t feel inspirational.
It feels distant. Fragile. Almost irresponsible.
Hope was born in that moment — not as an idea for a book, but as a refusal to disappear quietly.
